Radon is a radioactive gas occurring in nature which can not be seen, smelled, or tasted and comes from the natural breakdown of radioactive metals.  Inside an enclosed area, such as a home, radon accumulates.  The highest level will be found in the lowest areas, usually basements.  Radon has been linked to an increase in the occurrence of lung cancer.  Charcoal canisters are placed in the area to be monitored for two to five days and the Radon gas is absorbed by the charcoal.  The canisters are mailed to a testing laboratory and analyzed.  Professional Home Consulting, Inc. uses an EPA registered primary laboratory -- EPA No. 1510000
